Thank you for showing an interest in leaving a legacy to support Lendwithcare. Leaving a legacy is a fantastic way of ensuring that your values live on.
As Lendwithcare is part of international aid and development charity CARE International, rather than a registered charity in its own right, you will need to use the name CARE International and CARE’s registered charity number when your Will is written rather than Lendwithcare.
We recommend that you get advice from a solicitor when preparing or updating your Will but here is some useful information that you can give them.

When lenders pass away there is usually either a balance in their Lendwithcare account or loans with outstanding repayments. If you want to make sure that any balance in your Lendwithcare account continues to help Lendwithcare support low-income entrepreneurs to work their way out of poverty, here is some suggested wording to include in your Will or in a Letter of Wishes to ensure your wishes are respected: "Any balance, or future loan repayments to my Lendwithcare account should be donated to CARE International UK to go towards the operational expenses of Lendwithcare."
Tax Benefits
Inheritance tax is the tax payable on your estate after your death if your estate is worth more than £325,000 (correct at October 2017). At present, the rate of inheritance tax is 40 percent but by leaving a legacy to a charity enables you to reduce the amount of tax you pay on your estate. HMRC state that if more than 10% is left to charity the rate will be reduced. Therefore, leaving a legacy is a very tax efficient way for you to help a charity.
