About Doselva

Doselva is a Nicaragua-based organic spice processor and exporter. It addresses the challenges of rural poverty and climate change by supporting smallholder farmers so that they can increase their income by diversifying into shade grown, higher-value crops and by providing access to formal markets in the growing global organic spice sector. Doselva’s core products are turmeric and ginger. Upcoming products include cardamom, vanilla, and lemongrass. Doselva is currently expanding operations into Honduras and it is legally recognised in both the United States of America and in Nicaragua. In the US, Doselva is registered as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) in the state of Delaware. In Nicaragua, Doselva is registered as a Sociedad Anonima (SA).
What is Doselva's mission?
Doselva’s mission is to produce the highest quality spices, improve smallholder farmer incomes, and implement scalable, regenerative agriculture practices that positively address social and environmental impacts of climate change in Central America.
What types of financial services do Doselva provide?
Doselva partners directly with smallholder farmers and supports them to successfully grow spice crops by providing in-person training on best practices in regenerative agriculture at Doselva’s demonstration farm. They also provide in-kind loans of seed, on-site technical support at their farms throughout the growing cycle and a fair contract for purchase of their harvests. Doselva collects the harvested crops, processes them at a central facility in Granada, Nicaragua, and exports fresh and dried finished products to customers in North America and Europe. Doselva is not a specialist financial service provider, although it has supported smallholder farmers in the past with in-kind loans of inputs and tools. Lendwithcare financing will enable Doselva to significantly increase the number of in-kind loans it can provide.
How much interest does Doselva charge?
Doselva does not charge any interest on the in-kind loans that it provides with funding from Lendwithcare.
Does Doselva provide any training?
Yes, it provides comprehensive training for smallholder farmers. The training is provided by Doselva’s agronomists who serve as technical advisors at Doselva’s demonstration farm and on-site at smallholder farmer locations. Training is on-going and customised to serve the varying needs of their partner farmers. Doselva agronomists regularly visit farmers throughout the growing cycle.
