I have heard the term carbon credits, what are they and are you offering them under this initiative?

A carbon credit is a tradeable unit that enables organizations and individuals to offset their CO2 emissions by reducing CO2 emissions elsewhere. One carbon credit equals one tonne of CO2-eq emissions prevented from entering the atmosphere.

By making a climate positive grant through Lendwithcare, you will not be issued with carbon credits. Because of this, unfortunately your grant cannot be considered to be a carbon offset. However, we will verify how many tonnes of CO2 have been prevented from entering the atmosphere through our partner, the FairClimateFund.

Carbon credits generated through the project you choose to support will be sold by the FairClimateFund. The funds generated through the sale of carbon credits will be invested directly back into the project to further support the low-income households who benefited from your grant when it was first made.
