Tuyen is 49 years old, married and has two children, one is working and the other is studying at university. Her family belongs to an ethnic minority group and lives in a remote mountainous area of Cam Thuy district. Their main income comes from her husband's job as a construction worker and her work as a tailor, which amounts to $577/£458 per month, a low income that makes their lives difficult.
In addition to their main occupations, Tuyen and her husband also grow acacia trees and sells the wood to local factories. The woodlot provides income and helps protect the land from landslides.
Despite their best efforts, the productivity of their timber crops has declined. The declining yield is attributed to a lack of investment in fertilizer. Realising the importance of addressing this issue, she has decided to ask for a loan from Thanh Hoa MFI to purchase 8 tons of fertilizer, which cost $225/£178 per ton, and high-quality seedlings. This investment is critical for restoring the productivity of their timber plantation and holds the potential to elevate their overall financial well-being.
She hopes that with the loan and the help of lenders, she will be able to achieve her goal and provide a better future for her children.
