Chamren got a loan of about $515 from Chrey Credit Union to buy some chairs and a new table for his customers and has already made a number of on time loan repayments. He is still operating his business selling noodle soup and coffee with the help of his wife. Chamren and his wife have been trying to attract more customers as during recent months business has been a little slow. The reason for this is local villagers have emigrated to work abroad as Cambodia was affected by flooding in September and October 2011. Nevertheless, he does have a number of regular customers to eat his noodle soup and drink his coffee and he is keen to continue this business. His profits are not as much as originally expected but he still has around $5 a day. He has the added advantage that he is a civil servant, specifically he is the vice chief of his village since 1982 and receives a small salary for this role as well.
