Sin balanced rice farming challenges with fishing and livestock income.

This is an update on Sin’s rice farming activities. He explained that his rice has already been harvested, but he was only able to break even this season. In total, he harvested two tonnes of rice for sale, with the market price at around £120 per tonne.

Yields were lower than last year, as his rice fields were affected by flooding during heavy rains in September 2025. However, his short-term rice crop, which was planted in November 2025, is growing well and is expected to be ready for harvest in February 2026.

Sin does not anticipate any difficulties in repaying his loan, as he earns additional income from catching fish along the Sangke River, bringing in around £8 per day. He also raises four cows at home, which provides him with another valuable source of income.
