Mrs. Ry gains around $500 from her rice farming business

Lendwithcare's local partner in Cambodia is delighted to update on Mrs. Ry's farming business. She has successfully harvested her short-term rice, yielding an impressive 4 tons per hectare. Selling the rice at a favourable price of $300 per ton, she has earned around $500 from this harvest. Looking ahead, Mrs. Ry anticipates the harvest of her wet season rice in January 2024, cultivated on a one-hectare plot. Regularly monitoring its growth, she estimates a yield of approximately 2.5 tons for sale.

Mrs. Ry typically rents a threshing service to collect her rice crops, incurring a cost of approximately $80 per hectare for sale. Despite fluctuations in her family's economic returns over the years (experiencing both high and modest returns from rice farming) Mrs. Ry finds value in owning a walking tractor, a crucial asset for ploughing her land.
