Mrs. Ry is a 60 year old married woman with five adult children all of whom are now married and living away from their parents. She lives with her husband in the Sangke District of Battambang Province where they farm wet season rice each year for sale.
Mrs. Ry has been a farmer for over 30 years and benefitted from a previous loan from LendWithCare that was used to purchase their rice paddy field. Their farm is now three hectares in size and provides a harvest of 2.5 tons of rice per hectare. The crops are then sold to a local middle man who buys direct from their farm. As cash-flow is tight at present she has requested this 24 month loan to purchase seeds, fertiliser, pesticide and weed-killer along with paying harvesting costs.
