Mrs. Saleab rice farming was a break even due to the land was flooded

Mrs Saleab Soum grows short term rice. This year she farmed her rice on a five hectares of farmland. She was able to collect only 1.5 tones per hectare because her rice crops was destroyed by the floods. The middleman agreed to pay her $175 per tone which was a break even for her rice farming. The flood water went down from her farmland now so she is able to prepare her land to grow her green bean. She start planting her green bean on a three hectares of land in March or April 2019. She hopes to collect around 800 kilograms of beans for sale. However she plans to plant her green bean and watermelons a bit earlier compared to last year because the flood water went down early than previous year. She will grows watermelons on one hectare. Her husband started to sell chapati/roti (handmade bread) and earns $10 a day from selling these items. He sells these items at Battambang Town it is around 20 kilometres from his home. This is a great source of income for her family.
