At 37 years old, Esther is a hardworking poultry farmer from Mangu, Kiambu County, whose farming business is at the heart of her family’s livelihood. Esther is a mother of two children, aged 11 and 7, and her greatest motivation is to provide for her family and give her children a better future.
Esther started poultry farming as a way of creating a reliable source of income for her household. However, like many smallholder farmers, she has faced the challenge of having limited capital to expand her business and meet the growing needs of her family. To strengthen her farming enterprise, Esther approached U&I Microfinance Bank, a local partner of Lendwithcare, for financing.
With access to additional capital, Esther is able to invest in her poultry business and work towards increasing her income. For her, farming is more than just a business—it is her livelihood and a source of hope for her family.
“Farming is my livelihood. I depend on it to support my family and to raise school fees for my children.”
With continued access to finance and opportunities to grow her enterprise, Esther is determined to build a more secure future for herself and her family.
Esther’s story is one of resilience, determination and hard work. Despite the challenges she faces, she continues to work diligently to grow her poultry business, meet her family’s needs and keep her children in school.
