Please note that there is currently an acute shortage of hard currency (USD, GBP, Euros etc) in Malawi and repayments may be subject to delay. We are working hard with our local partners in Malawi to ensure repayments are returned to lenders on time.

The Kadoko 1 Group from Ntchisi is a group of committed married entrepreneurs who are working hard to improve their families’ livelihoods through small businesses and farming activities. The women are involved in grocery stores, clothing sales, snack businesses, vegetable trading, and farming tomatoes, beans, and Irish potatoes. Together, they support 11 children while encouraging each other to grow their businesses and create more secure futures for their households.

Eliza, aged 22, is a married entrepreneur and the mother of one child who has been running a clothes-selling business for the past two years. She started her business with the aim of helping her family meet their basic needs and has continued to work hard to build a reliable source of income. Although she currently manages the business on her own, Eliza remains determined to expand her enterprise through careful investment and dedication.

Eliza is requesting a loan to increase her business capital and restock her clothes business. With more products available, she hopes to attract more customers, improve her sales, and grow her income. Her dream is to expand her business further and eventually build a house for her family.

The loan will support members of the Kadoko 1 Group in strengthening their different businesses and farming activities. The funds will help them purchase additional stock for grocery stores, clothing, snacks, vegetables, beans, and Irish potatoes, as well as support tomato farming. Through their group lending arrangement, members continue to encourage one another, share business experiences, and work together to improve their enterprises and household incomes.

The Microloan Foundation, Lendwithcare's local partner in Malawi employs a unique 'centre' model for lending to female entrepreneurs. A centre comprises several sub-groups which share the same name as the centre. As such, you may have seen similarly named group loans from Malawi all belonging to the same centre. In this system, each woman is individually responsible for repaying her loan, but the group offers mutual support by assuming overall responsibility together.
