Luan is a 64 year old married woman with four adult children, two of whom are married and two unmarried. The family live in a small house in Thanh Hoa province where she retails fresh seafood while her husband has a business selling snacks.
Luan and her husband have a strong work ethic and with a desire for financial self-reliance, the couple work hard to cover daily household expenses and provide modest support to their adult children. Her husband travels between local schools and neighbourhood markets selling traditional street snacks, although this is a business that has a somewhat unpredictable income.
To supplement their household income, Luan begins her day early each morning by helping out at a nearby eatery, and once her morning work finishes she then shifts her focus to her primary enterprise which is retailing fresh seafood. Having spent 15 years developing this business, Luan has cultivated a loyal customer base that relies on her regular selection of marine produce.
Luan’s business has been successful but limited operational capital has restricted her ability to grow the business fast enough to meet the growing demand and so Luan requested this loan from Thanh Hoa MFI, (our local development partner in Vietnam). The loan will be used to purchase 300 kg of shrimp, 300 kg of fish, and 300 kg of clams to meet the stock requirements for her current sales cycle.
Loan added: 30 July 2026
