Huyen

Huyen is 36 years old, married, and has three young children. Her eldest son is in 5th grade, her second son in 3rd grade, and her youngest is only a year old, so they are completely dependent on their parents, making their economic situation difficult and challenging. They live in the remote mountainous district of Cam Thuy in Thanh Hoa province.

With her husband frequently away from home working as a long-distance driver, Huyen balances raising their family with managing her diverse income streams. For 12 years, she has been deeply committed to local agriculture, operating an integrated farming model on her family's land. In addition to cultivating crops and raising livestock, she also runs a small online retail business and takes on various freelance jobs to secure supplemental household revenue.

A pivotal turning point occurred recently when Huyen participated in a local crop-restructuring support program. This initiative provided her with specialised training in high-quality fruit tree cultivation. Inspired by these new techniques, she has planned to restructure her family plot to plant new, low maintenance crops that yield stable crops.

To fund this ecological agricultural transition, she has applied for a loan from Thanh Hoa MFI, our local development partner in Vietnam. Demonstrating her commitment to sustainable agriculture, Huyen will use the loan to buy 30 bags of organic fertilizer to enrich the soil naturally and minimise environmental impacts. She will also buy 700 banana trees and 100 lime trees.

By combining her extensive farming experience with eco-friendly practices and thorough preparation, Huyen remains highly optimistic that her new orchard will thrive. Ultimately, this strategic investment aims to deliver exceptional harvest yields, boosting her household income and ensuring a more secure future for her family.
