Chat

Chat is an experienced farmer, 67 years old, married with three grown children. She and her husband live with their daughter and granddaughter in a small house in Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province. Agriculture and livestock farming remain the main livelihoods for the people here.

Chat has dedicated over 25 years of her life to the demanding fields of crop cultivation and animal husbandry. Recognised within her local community as a true embodiment of industriousness, her daily routine consistently begins at the break of dawn and only concludes long after sunset. Recently, her family faced new challenges when her daughter returned home following a divorce. Because her grandchild is still very young, her daughter is currently unable to seek employment, placing the entire financial weight of supporting the expanded household solely on Chat’s shoulders.

Refusing to let these hardships deter her, Chat remained determined to expand her livestock enterprise to enhance her household income. Leveraging her decades of hands-on experience alongside valuable husbandry knowledge provided by credit officers from Thanh Hoa MFI, Lendwithcare's local development partner in Vietnam, she has incrementally adopted a sustainable, eco-friendly farming model. Chat skillfully combines natural forage with commercial feed to boost her livestock's disease resistance. Furthermore, she properly processes animal waste, recycling it into rich organic fertiliser for her crops.

Currently entering her seventh loan cycle, Chat has applied for capital to purchase four additional breeding buffaloes. She hopes this expanded herd will thrive and deliver high productivity during this farming cycle, substantially increasing her revenue stream to elevate her family’s income and secure long-term financial stability.
