In Mzuzu, live the Emusizini 3 Group, a committed group of five women entrepreneurs. With four married members and one widowed, they collectively care for 16 children and three orphans. Through clothes, fish, and vegetable sales, grocery stores, livestock trading, and farming, they earn income from multiple sources while supporting one another through their group structure. Their combined efforts build stronger livelihoods and create better opportunities for their families.

Magret is a 51‑year‑old married entrepreneur and mother of five who has spent the past 13 years selling fish and running a small grocery business. She began her enterprise to support her family and ensure she could consistently meet their daily needs, and over time it has become a steady and reliable source of income. Managing the business independently, she works with dedication and consistency to provide for those who depend on her.

Magret is now requesting a loan to purchase additional stock for her fish and grocery business, enabling her to increase supply and serve more customers in her community. Strengthening and expanding her activities will help her secure continued growth and stability for her family.

The loan will allow each member to invest directly in her business by purchasing additional stock. This support will help them maintain steady operations, improve the availability of goods, and strengthen sustainable income streams that benefit their households and reinforce the group’s collective progress.

The Microloan Foundation, Lendwithcare's local partner in Malawi employs a unique 'centre' model for lending to female entrepreneurs. A centre comprises several sub-groups which share the same name as the centre. As such, you may have seen similarly named group loans from Malawi all belonging to the same centre. In this system, each woman is individually responsible for repaying her loan, but the group offers mutual support by assuming overall responsibility together.
