The Mwaiwathu 4 Group from Ntcheu is made up of ambitious women entrepreneurs who are committed to building stronger livelihoods for their families through small business activities. All members are married, and together they care for 19 children. Their primary businesses are grocery stores, which provide steady income and help them work toward greater financial stability and long-term growth.

Effa is a 40-year-old married entrepreneur and mother of three who has successfully operated her grocery business for the past six years. She started the business to help support her family and create a reliable source of income for everyday household needs. Through hard work and experience, the business has become an important source of stability for her family and also provides work for a relative who assists with daily operations.

Effa iwill use her share of the group loan to purchase additional stock for her shop, enabling her to meet customer demand more consistently and increase sales. Her long-term goal is to continue investing in and expanding her business so it can generate greater returns and create more opportunities for her family.

The group loan requested by Mwaiwathu 4 Group will provide members with the working capital they need to restock and strengthen their grocery businesses. By increasing access to goods for resale, members will be able to improve business performance, generate higher incomes, and continue supporting their families while growing together as a group.

The Microloan Foundation, Lendwithcare's local partner in Malawi employs a unique 'centre' model for lending to female entrepreneurs. A centre comprises several sub-groups which share the same name as the centre. As such, you may have seen similarly named group loans from Malawi all belonging to the same centre. In this system, each woman is individually responsible for repaying her loan, but the group offers mutual support by assuming overall responsibility together.
