Malawi
Please note that there is currently an acute shortage of hard currency (USD, GBP, Euros etc) in Malawi and repayments may be subject to delay. We are working hard with our local partners in Malawi to ensure repayments are returned to lenders on time.
Nsambankhumba 1 Group is a hardworking team of five married entrepreneurs from Ntcheu who rely on agriculture and small-scale trading to support their families. Together, they care for 17 dependents and are engaged in farming and selling maize within their community. Their shared effort in business helps them improve household incomes while also strengthening the group’s collective resilience.
Dailesi is a 44 year old married mother of five children who has been actively involved in farming and maize trading for the past 13 years. She started her business to ensure that her family could consistently access basic needs such as food and other essentials. Through years of experience, she has built a steady flow of customers who rely on her produce.
Dailesi is now seeking a loan to purchase additional maize stock to boost her trading activity. With increased supply, she will be able to meet higher demand and improve her earnings. She is supported by one employee and three family members who assist in the daily operations of her business. Her long-term goal is to expand into selling beans and other agricultural commodities to further grow her income base.
The rest of the Nsambankhumba 1 Group are requesting a loan to strengthen their farming and trading activities. The funds will be used to purchase additional maize, allowing the members to increase their stock levels and improve their sales. This investment will help the group generate better income streams, support their 17 dependents more effectively, and enhance their ability to sustain their agricultural businesses.
The Microloan Foundation, Lendwithcare's local partner in Malawi employs a unique 'centre' model for lending to female entrepreneurs. A centre comprises several sub-groups which share the same name as the centre. As such, you may have seen similarly named group loans from Malawi all belonging to the same centre. In this system, each woman is individually responsible for repaying her loan, but the group offers mutual support by assuming overall responsibility together.
