Chigumu 4 Group needed £447.79 for their business.

Amount requested:

£447.79

Repayment term:

4 months

Activity type:

Farming

Please note that there is currently an acute shortage of hard currency (USD, GBP, Euros etc) in Malawi and repayments may be subject to delay. We are working hard with our local partners in Malawi to ensure repayments are returned to lenders on time.

Chigumu 4 Group from Ntcheu is made up of five determined married entrepreneurs who are working hard to improve the welfare of their families through farming activities and small businesses. Together, the group supports 22 dependents and encourages one another through teamwork, shared responsibility and financial support that helps each member move forward.

Daliya is a 60-year-old married woman and a committed member of the Chigumu 4 Group. She is a mother of four children and has been involved in farming and tomato selling for the past three years. Daliya started her business so she could contribute to her family’s needs and provide better support at home.

Through her farming activities, she has managed to earn income for food, school needs and other household expenses. However, the lack of enough capital limits her ability to buy quality farm supplies and expand tomato production.

With her share of the loan, Daliya plans to purchase farm resources that will help improve her harvest and strengthen her tomato business. She hopes that increased income from her farming activities will allow her to educate her children and create a better future for them.

The Microloan Foundation, Lendwithcare's local partner in Malawi, employs a unique 'centre' model for lending to female entrepreneurs. A centre comprises several sub-groups that share the same name as the centre. As such, you may have seen similarly named group loans from Malawi, all belonging to the same centre. In this system, each woman is individually responsible for repaying her loan, but the group offers mutual support by assuming overall responsibility together.
