Vietnam
Hoa is a 33-year-old micro-entrepreneur who is married and currently raising two young children: one in elementary school and one in middle school. She and her husband live in the mountainous district of Yen Dinh and are a low-income household, facing many hardships.
At the age of 33, Hoa is in one of the busiest stages of her life, balancing family responsibilities with the need to earn a living. For more than ten years, she has managed a small grocery shop, which has become the main source of income for her household and a way to support her children’s education. Despite her dedication, the business often faces challenges because many customers in the village buy on credit, slowing down cash flow and making it difficult for her to reinvest in stock.
To overcome these obstacles and prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year, when demand for goods rises sharply, Hoa has applied for her first loan from Thanh Hoa MFI, our local development partner in Vietnam. With this financial support, she plans to purchase a wider variety of fruits and consumer products to meet customer needs during the festive season. She believes that having sufficient stock will allow her to serve the community better, stabilize her business, and improve her family’s income.
Although life still brings many worries, Hoa’s greatest hope is for her family to remain healthy, for her children to succeed in their studies, and for the future to bring enough savings to renovate or build a more comfortable home. With the support of microfinance, she is confident that she can gradually create a more stable and prosperous life for her children and family.
