Ty is a 39-year-old ethnic minority woman who is married with two school-age children (in Year 11 and Year 7 at school). The family lives in Ngoc Lac Town, Ngoc Lac District, where agriculture, forestry, and fishery remain the main sources of livelihood.

Among these, acacia cultivation plays a key role due to its adaptability to hilly terrain, short growth cycle of five to fifteen years, and its contribution to both economic progress and poverty reduction.

For the past sixteen years, Ty has worked as a tailor to earn additional income while managing the family’s acacia forest with her husband. With extensive experience and a deep understanding of local climate and soil conditions, she has successfully maintained healthy and productive forest growth. Ty is eager to enhance both the sustainability and yield of her plantation by adopting environmentally friendly farming practices that conserve water and improve timber quality.

Now in her fourth loan cycle, Ty accessed THMFI’s Green Credit loan product, which offers a preferential interest rate along with guidance and updates on sustainable agricultural methods. Motivated by these modern techniques (including water-saving practices and the use of organic fertilisers to protect soil nutrients) Ty applied for a loan to purchase 12,000 acacia seedlings to regenerate the newly harvested land area.
