Buaphan

Buaphan, a 58-year-old married woman, lives with her husband, two adult sons, and a 5-year-old grandchild, who is her youngest son's child, in a rural part of Surin province, Thailand. Her family primarily relies on agricultural activities to make a living, while Buaphan works as a weaver, producing silk cloth for sale.

Buaphan began her silk-weaving journey in her youth. She found silk handicraft fascinating and practised alongside her mother until she became skilled enough to launch her own silk-weaving business. She weaves and sells authentic silk products to local customers who are both merchants and individuals. Buaphan always ensures that she produces high-quality silk products and constantly looks for ways to improve her business. Thanks to her dedication, her customer base has grown in recent years.

At present, Buaphan would like to further expand her business to meet her customers' demands. She has therefore applied for a loan to purchase warp and weft threads, colour dyes, rigid heddle reeds, and other weaving materials. She hopes that with these resources, she can increase her production capacity, provide high-quality silk products to her growing customer base, and ultimately boost her income.
