Vietnam
Loan lives in a district of Nong Cong. She is married with two children, both of whom are independent. Loan has been working as a housekeeper for 25 years and her husband works as a farmer.
Previously, Loan’s family was classified as a near-poor household in the commune. Despite being very hardworking and having 25 years of work experience, the income of both spouses was often unstable and insufficient to cover living expenses. However, thanks to financial and business knowledge support from Thanh Hoa MFI, our local development partner in Vietnam, they boldly took out microfinance loans to develop their livestock farm and raise more cows to generate additional income for the family. Now, their monthly income has reached approximately £375, and their children have grown up and started working, contributing to the family economy.
With this loan, Loan plans to buy three breeding cows to raise for 18 months, because the market demand for beef is increasing. She hopes the herd will grow well and produce many calves to sell for profit. The loan will be repaid in 18 months.
