Vietnam
Truyen is 56 years old and lives with his wife and their two school-aged children in Nhu Thanh district, Thanh Hóa province in Vietnam's North Central Coast region. For a living, he works as a builder and his wife runs a grocery store from their home.
Despite Truyen's hard work as a construction worker and his wife running a small grocery store, their combined income is insufficient to cover monthly living expenses. For the people of Như Thanh district, including Truyens, agriculture remains the main source of livelihood.
To improve their financial situation, they decided to venture into pig farming. They began breeding pigs and selling the piglets to local traders after 10 months of rearing. Over the years, their pig farming enterprise gradually lifted the family out of poverty, providing enough money to cover all household costs and enabling them to send their children to school.
To further improve their standard of living, Tryen wants to breed and sell more piglets. He has requested a loan from Thanh Hoa MFI, our local development partner in Vietnam, to invest in his pig enterprise. He will pay the loan back in 18 monthly instalments.
