Thailand
Ampai, a 64-year-old single woman, lives with her 90-year-old father in a rural area of Chom Phra district, Surin province, Thailand. To support herself and her elderly father, Ampai engages in rice farming and weaving silk cloth for sale.
Ampai has been a weaver and farmer since her youth, learning these skills from her parents. During the off-season of farming, she dedicates most of her time to weaving silk cloth for sale, which provides her with a monthly income. Her products, including silk cloth and Pha-Kao-Ma (Thai loin cloth), are highly sought after in Thailand. Textile merchants are Ampai's primary customers, regularly ordering her silk cloth products to resell in markets to individual buyers.
To boost her sales, Ampai plans to increase her silk cloth production to meet the demands of both textile merchants and individual buyers. To achieve this, she requested a loan to purchase 15kg of silk thread, colour dyes, and essential weaving tools.
This investment will enable her to produce more products efficiently and expand her customer base. Ampai anticipates that by scaling up production, she will generate higher profits and secure long-term growth for her weaving business.
