Canh, a resilient 60-year-old woman, has spent over four decades cultivating a modest farm in the mountainous district of Cam Thuy. Hailing from an ethnic minority, she and her husband have raised a family that has now grown into independent individuals. Despite the challenges of their rural setting, the couple has dedicated their lives to farming, with Canh primarily engaged in small-scale agriculture and animal husbandry.
Living in a region renowned for high-quality sugarcane, the primary raw material for a local sugar company. Canh's family also owns a small plot of land dedicated to cultivating sugarcane. Every 11 months, they harvest the crop, contributing to both their income and the local sugar industry. However, the family faces a financial constraint that hinders their ability to invest in high-quality sugarcane seeds, essential for improving yields and sustaining their livelihoods.
Recognising the growth potential, Canh has requested her first loan from Thanh Hoa MFI to purchase 1.5 tons of high-quality sugarcane seeds. This investment aims to boost the family's overall yield and enhance the quality of their produce.
