Andres Geovanny is a smallholder farmer from an area called Rio San Juan growing basic grains, organic ginger and keeping pigs. He is married with two children.
Andres requested an in-kind loan from our local partner organisation Doselva in order to acquire good quality seeds, organic fertiliser, fungicides and tools to plant ginger. The ginger will be planted in an agro-forestry system that maintains forest canopy and does not contaminate the local environment which is a buffer zone of the Indio Maiz Biological Reserve which is one of the largest protected lowland forest systems in Central America. He will plant between 3-4 acres of land and make two repayment instalments to coincide with harvests after 12 and 24 months.
