The Kasiya group based in Lilongwe is composed of 25 women, the majority of whom are married. Between them they have over 40 children who rely upon them financially. To support their famiulies, the women of the Kasiya group run various small-scale businesses. They have set-up stalls selling fish, snacks, groceries and clothes, as well as rear livestock and run restaurants. They require the loan to buy products and raw materials for their businesses.
One of the group members is Elina. She is a young entrepreneur at just 22. She is married with two children. Her husband is currently not working and so the burden of supporting their young family relies entirely on Elina. To do this, she runs a tearoom and she is requesting a small loan to buy sugar, milk and tea for business to ensure she can keep up with demand from her customers. She started the business to support her family and has been running it for 8 years. Her goal is to own her own house in the future.
This is the groups second loan from Lendwithcare. They are thankful for the previous loan which they used to invest in the businesses and helped them to grow.
