Sopheap plans to grow and expand her business

Sopheap plans to grow and expand her business

Aside from rice farming and selling a wide variety of vegetables, Sopheap now also raises pigs from her home. After she got a loan of approximately 515 USD she built a pigsty and bought a piglet. At the moment she has one female pig, aged one, and one piglet, aged one month old. She needs to take care of this piglet over the next five months so she can sell it to the market. To save the costs associated with buying commercial feed, Sopheap and her husband make the feed themselves by using vegetable remains mixed with rice bran and banana chips. With the assistance of her husband they can look after all of their pigs well, which they both really enjoy, and it provides them with some extra income for their family. However, her pig raising business is still small and has only been running for a couple of years, but she now plans to buy two more piglets after she sells the one she currently has.
