José Tillahuango received a loan about six months ago and he has made the first few monthly repayments without difficulties. He used the money to purchase in bulk all the raw materials that he uses in the manufacture of bricks, specifically sand and rice residue as well as firewood. He makes on average 7,000 bricks per week and belongs to a small brickmakers association - which takes turns to respond to orders from construction companies. Don Jose considers that his business has grown over time and he benefits from belonging to the association. To make the 7,000 bricks each week which he is allotted by the association he calculates he spends around US$800 and receives around US$1,142 from their sale leaving him with a profit of $342 per week. From time to time when not producing himself he works as a labourer in other small brick factories. Don Jose would like to purchase a truck in the future which would mean that he could transport and deliver materials for other members of the brickmakers association - they only have four trucks between them and have several dozen members. He could then also offer employment to his son as a driver.
