Yuean is a master craftswoman who refuses to surrender to fate. She is a woman who uses her strong heart and master-level skills to weave silk cloths as the pillar supporting her family. In the small home where Yuean lives with her ailing husband and two grandchildren, she is the vital force driving everyone's lives forward. Yuean is the sole breadwinner, providing for everyone's needs, while also offering love and warmth to her family. To meet these sometimes overwhelming burdens, Yuean decided to apply for a loan to invest in her small silk weaving business. Yuean is no ordinary weaver. Her skill is recognised as that of a 'master artisan.' The silk cloths that come from her loom are meticulously detailed, exquisite, and uniquely patterned, making them consistently in high demand. Her beautiful 6-heddle bar (the more bars, the more intricate the weave) silk cloths are sold for approx. £35 per piece, and her 3-heddle bar silk cloths approx. £31 per piece, confirming the high value of her creations.
However, life has presented her with challenges, and health issues have slowed down her movements. This, combined with the time dedicated to caring for her husband and grandchildren, has changed her pace of life and work. Where she once finished a piece of silk cloth in two to three days, each piece now takes five to six days or even more. Even though her body signals the need for rest, Yuean's heart is stronger than steel. She shares with unwavering determination, "Even with illness and so many responsibilities, I will not stop weaving. At the very least, this is a profession that allows me to earn income for myself and my family without being a burden to others."
