Rosaline won a contract with the municipality

Rosalina has taken 4 loans, she has used them all to buy equipment, tools and ingredients. Previously, Rosalina’s business came through private orders, but recently Rosalina won a contract with the local council to supply birthday cakes for the senior citizens in her municipality. She sells each cake for 300 pesos and she makes approximately 5,000 cakes per year (an average of 13 cakes per day). Each cake costs 200 pesos to make, leaving her with 100 pesos profit per cake. After overheads, Rosalina earns approximately 800 pesos profit per day. Rosalina’s overheads include energy costs, and hiring a vehicle to pick up her supplies. She doesn’t employ other staff but teaches her children so they can take over her business in the future. “For now, I can work fast so I can manage. My business is doing very well. I have built an extension on my home and I have decorated it and bought furniture. It is a nice home for my children". Rosalina has a small stall outside her home which she uses to advertise her business. Rosalina talks about the loans: "they helped me to grow my business, then to win the contract and now my business is much improved.” In terms of her hopes for the future, Rosalina says “I am now content with what I have. I am very happy, thanks to God.”
