Kunthea has successfully repaid the loan she received through lendwithcare and when I met her at her home she told me that she has since taken out another loan from the local microfinance institution, CCSF. Kunthea is engaged in both rice farming and pig raising and has recently decided to concentrate more on pig raising since she told me it is more profitable than rice farming. Kunthea started her pig raising business by mistake really as she was given some piglets by her husband's friend who had borrowed some money from them and paid of his debts with pigs. Last year a number of Kunthea's pigs died because they got infected with a disease but she said she had no problem paying her loan off because she has her rice farming and she still had some pigs left to sell. With her most recent loan, Kunthea bought 13 piglets and 5 pigs and she is hoping to reignite her pig raising business again with these purchases. She is a little worried about the price of pork as it seems to be decreasing but for the time being she is happy concentrating on growing this business. Kunthea hopes that she'll be able to build a new house with the profits they make from this business (update by Nancy Thomas).
