Pos Dan took out a Lendwithcare loan to help with farming his rice crop. He has used it to cover the cost of ploughing the land in preparation for sowing the rice, for fertilizer and pesticides to help it grow, and to rent a tractor to help with the harvest. He says he has to use chemical pesticides to stop pests from destroying all of his crop.
Getting the loan has allowed him to generate more income from his rice crop so he has no problem making the repayments, and has been able to repair his motorbike too. He also grows chillies near his house which he sells at the market, although this year they haven't grown very well.
At harvest time he also earns money by working in the cassava and corn fields with his wife. This means being away from home for 3 to 4 weeks, so they leave their children with their grandparents who live next door. All three of his children go to school and he earns enough income from his business to pay for this.
Pos Dan would like to expand his business but lacks the money to do so. Still he hopes for the future, and his dream is that one day his children will be doctors.
