Salafatou is 35. Along with her husband, who is a shopkeeper, and their two children, she lives in Atchrimi, in the southern Plateaux region of Togo. Her children are 18 and 15, and both attend school. For the past ten years, Salafatou has worked at the market in Agbo,near Togo’s capital Lomé, where she sells a whole range of goods, from beads and sea shells to root vegetables, stationery, and bird c traps. She buys her stock from Lomé and also from Nigeria. She employs two people to help her with her business. This will be the first time Salafatou has taken out a loan with WAGES. She is asking for 300,000 West African francs, repayable over 12 months, which she will use to stock up on exercise books, pens, pencils, notepads, reading books, slates, and other stationery and school essentials in time for the start of the new term. Salafatou hopes the loan will help her to offer a wider range of products and expand her business, helping to provide a better future for her children.

Salafatou est une femme de 35 ans avec deux enfants scolarisés. Son époux est commerçant. Le premier enfant a 18 ans et le dernier 15 ans. Tous réunis habitent le quartier d’Atchrimi. Salafatou revend toutes sortes d’articles : des cauris, les pièges d’oiseaux, les perles, les tubercules, des fournitures scolaires. Le lieu où elle exerce son activité se trouve au marché d’Agbo. Ses produits sont communément achetés à Lomé et au Nigeria. Elle emploie deux personnes. Il y a de cela 10 ans qu’elle fait ce commerce. Elle n’a pas d’ancienneté à WAGES et est à son premier cycle de prêt. Elle sollicite un crédit de 300 000FCFA remboursable en douze mensualités. L’argent lui servira pour l’achat des cartons de cahiers, des bics, des crayons, des blocs notes, des marqueurs, des carnets de note, des livres de lecture, des ardoises, et diverses fournitures scolaires pour répondre aux sollicitations de la rentrée scolaire. Salafatou espère gagner assez d’argent pour agrandir son commerce en diversifiant ses produits et garantir une vie meilleure à ses enfants.
