The CAF Evolution Group, based near Lomé, comprises seven members who are responsible for 15 people, including 10 children who attend school. The average age of the members is 39. The group’s members are mainly women who sell traditional cloth, bazin (hand dyed cotton), fabrics, perfumes and food products.
Mrs Ali is a retailer of fabrics, perfumes and other goods. She has been in this business for over 10 years and sells from her shop. She is 40 years old, married and a mother. Her husband is a driver and they share the household expenses. Her children are at school.
With her share of the loan, she plans to buy bazin to increase her stock. This investment will enable her to better meet her customers’ needs and increase her income. Without the loan, she lacks the financial means to buy sufficient stock, which limits her ability to grow her business. Her goal for the future is to become a wholesaler in her sector in order to expand her business. Some of the profits made will be saved, whilst the rest will be used to cover household expenses.
The members of CAF Evolution believe that the loan will enable them to increase their stock and sales. This funding will help to strengthen their business activities and improve their income.
