The CAF La Grâce Adjougba Group, based in Lomé, consists of three members who collectively support eight dependants, including five school-age children.
Amadoua is a group member and fruit trader who specialises in the sale of fruit, particularly grafted mangoes, at Hanoukopé Market. She sells both wholesale and retail and has been running her business for more than six years.
Amadoua is 43 years old, married and a mother. Her husband works as a teacher, and she contributes towards household expenses by sharing the family's financial responsibilities.
With her share of the group loan, she plans to purchase larger quantities of fruit, including oranges, bananas, avocados and grafted mangoes, allowing her to expand her product range and increase sales. Before accessing finance, she often lacked the resources needed to maintain a full and consistent stock for her customers, which limited her earning potential. This funding will help her strengthen her supply chain and grow her business sustainably.
Looking ahead, Ms Foussena hopes to own her own home, providing greater stability and security for her family. Profits from her business will largely be saved towards achieving this goal.
The members of the group believe that the loan will enable them to increase their stock levels, better meet customer demand and expand their trading activities. By investing in additional food and fruit for resale, the group aims to increase household incomes and strengthen members’ financial independence.
