Philippines
Eric is a single male entrepreneur who lives in the province of Cebu. He previously worked as an OFW (overseas foreign worker) and has now returned home for good. He currently manages a room-for-rent business as his source of income.
For many years, whilst an OFW, Eric saved his salary so he could build a room-for-rent business that would provide him with an income after he returned to the Philippines. He chose to save money and invest in a business that could sustain him even as he gets older.
At present, he has four rooms that are fully occupied, generating an income of £84 per room per month, which greatly helps his daily living. In addition to his room-for-rent business, he also operates a grocery store in another part of their barangay with the help of one employee. However, he still personally oversees the store’s sales most of the time to ensure proper management. He restocks supplies weekly in bulk from the mall.
Eric's rental rooms now need repairs, especially the ceilings and roof, to ensure the comfort of his boarders and to encourage them to stay instead of looking for other rentals. He also needs to restock fast-moving grocery items to maintain good sales and meet customer demand.
Because of these needs, Eric has applied for a loan from our local development partner, LAMAC, to purchase construction materials such as plywood, nails, roofing sheets, and other necessary supplies for repairs, as well as additional grocery stocks for his store.
