The SCOOPS Assilassime Nyigbe group, located a few kilometres from Notsè, comprises 24 members with 64 dependants, including 32 school-age children. The average age of the members is 42. The group’s members are mainly involved in agricultural production, particularly the cultivation of tiger nuts, sweet potatoes and maize.
Kougbe has been growing tiger nuts, sweet potatoes and maize for 25 years. She is 52 years old, married and a mother. Her husband also works in agriculture, and they share the household expenses.
With her share of the loan, she plans to buy agricultural inputs to better maintain her crops and increase her yield. This funding will enable her to improve her farm and move towards her goal of food self-sufficiency. Before this loan, she described her situation as somewhat unstable, particularly due to difficulties related to farming. Her ambition for the future is to achieve sustainable food self-sufficiency. Part of the profits made will be invested in her children’s education.
The members believe that this loan will enable them to better maintain their fields and improve their agricultural performance. Their shares of the loan will be used to purchase the agricultural inputs necessary for production.
