Edelina is 22 years old and lives with her family in Carchi province which is in the north of Ecuador. Her work at present is selling chickens to order, in different parts of the city. She decided to start this work after finishing school, with the aim of generating her own income so she could help with her parents’ household expenses.
She started her business three years ago, when she was employed in a customer services department selling chickens. After learning about sales and having work experience, she decided to set up her own business which she could do, thanks to her parents’ support.
Every month she sells 800 chickens, or more during the festival season. Edelina now intends to have an actual shop where she can serve her customers, and so she has requested a loan for this. Her planned budget is: £300 for paying the shop rental, £600 to buy a new refrigerator for storing and displaying her produce, and lastly she will pay £220 to buy chickens for selling in her shop..
