Pelegrin

Pelegrin (52) is a single mother with one son, and they live together in the Province of Cebu. She runs a general shop, which she continues to manage. In addition to this, she also produces food items such as lumpia shanghai, chicken nuggets, and other processed meat products. She works diligently to provide for both herself and her son.

Pelegrin’s general shop is strategically located beside the main road in the Province of Cebu, attracting a steady flow of passing customers. She offers a wide range of products, including groceries, soft drinks, beer, dressed chicken, processed foods, vegetables, and spices. Pelegrin manages the business herself, with her son helping during his free time.

For her processed meat products, she has a regular supplier who delivers directly to her shop, supplying around 20–25 kilos of dressed chicken weekly, while she sources other items from wholesale markets and shopping centres. After experiencing issues with bad debts in the past, Pelegrin has decided not to offer goods on credit, which helps maintain a stable cash flow.

Last year, Pelegrin received her second loan funded through Lendwithcare and was able to repay it without any difficulty. She recently decided to apply for a third loan. This loan will serve as working capital, enabling her to restock essential items and meet the operational needs of her business.
