Juan Esteban is a 22-year-old farmer who lives with his parents in the province of Carchi, Ecuador. Three years ago, Juan decided to earn his own income and began working in agriculture. He learned from his parents how to work the land, plant seeds, and harvest crops.
In recent years, Juan has been constantly learning, which has allowed him to improve the production of his fruit in his orchard. Juan grows mandarins and lemons in a family orchard. Juan employs four people who work in the orchard, and each year they harvest around 450 boxes of mandarins and 165 sacks of lemons. All of his harvest is sold in the local market for £5.25 and £7 per sack.
Juan Esteban has applied for a loan to buy agricultural supplies, fertiliser, and to hire labour for the orchard.
