The CAF Shiloh group is made up of three hardworking women based in Lomé. The members have an average age of 33 and together care for seven dependants, including four school‑age children. Their income‑generating activities include the sale of cosmetics, food items, haberdashery and handicrafts such as sewing. These small businesses help them support their families and improve their living conditions.
One of the members, Annick, is 32 years old and has been a food retailer for more than three years, selling items such as spaghetti, tinned sardines, mayonnaise, cooking oils, onions and tinned tomatoes. She runs her business at the Noukafou market. Annick is single and the mother of two school‑age children, and she is solely responsible for covering all household expenses.
Before accessing the loan, Annick struggled with stock shortages, which limited what she could offer her customers. With her share of the loan, she plans to purchase bagged rice, couscous, milk and other food items so she can broaden her stock, meet customer demand and increase her income. Her long‑term dream is to own a home for her children, and she intends to save part of her profits to work towards this goal.
The other members of the CAF Shiloh group will also use their loan shares to buy more stock and expand their respective businesses, helping them to further support their families and strengthen their livelihoods.
