Randy is 55 years old, and happily married with two children. One child is in their fourth year at university, while the other is in Year 12 of school. The family lives in the province of Cebu.
Randy started his hog farming business around 15 years ago, but when African swine fever struck, many of his pigs died. Despite this setback, he did not lose hope and continued to work to rebuild his livelihood.
At present, he has 10 fattening pigs and one sow. His fattening pigs are due for disposal, while his sow is expected to give birth again soon. He plans to raise all the piglets so he can gradually expand his stock and increase his income.
In order to do this succesfully, Randy has applied for a loan from Lendwithcare's local development partner, LAMAC, to purchase pig feed in bulk. Randy believes that his hard work will pay off, and he will repay the loan at the end of six months with a lump sum payment arrangement.
