Ailen is a 44-year-old married woman and the mother of two children. She lives with her family in the province of Cebu where she runs a grocery store located in front of their house.
Ailen started running her business in 2018 to help her husband, who is a motorcycle rider, support their family's living expenses. Her store is open from 6:00 am to 12:00 midnight and sells a variety of products including rice, canned goods, energy drinks and other fast-selling items.
Every weekend, she purchases stocks from the mall, while other supplies come from nearby wholesale stores. Her sales typically reach up to £25 per day, and she also earns additional income daily from GCash transactions.
Ailen is keen to continue growing her business which is why she has requested a loan from our local development partner, LAMAC-MP. She plans to use this additional working capital to purchase larger quantities and more variety of products to keep the loyalty of her regular customers, and attract new ones. She hopes this will lead to more sales and an increase in her profits to ensure a stable future for her children.
