Sixteen people located near Notsè comprise the “SCOOPS N'tsifafa group”. The group have an average age of 47 and between them they support 78 dependents, including 35 schoolchildren. All of the members of the group are involved in agricultural production, particularly sesame, soya and maize.
One of this group is N'Kpande who is 46 years old and married with children. He is a producer of maize, sesame and soya beans and has been working in the fields for around 20 years. Although his farm work has been relatively stable his available funds are frequently not sufficient to allow him to maintain his fields properly.
He will use his share of the loan to purchase agricultural inputs such as fertiliser and pesticides to maintain his farm and increase production. Part of the profits generated by this business expansion will be committed to his children's education while the rest will be used to expand and develop the farm.
Other members of the group plan to use their shares of the loan to enable them to better maintain their fields and improve their production through the use of fertilisers and pesticides.
