Togo
There are eight women in the “CAF Elom 1 group” which is located near Lomé. The group has an average age of 27 and between them they support ten dependents, including seven children who attend the local school. All of the members of this group are involved either in the sale of food or shoes.
One member of this group is Nyagblodjo who is a married woman 33 years old with school-age children. Her husband is a carpenter. Nyagblodjo’s business is in selling porridge – a business which she started over five years ago.
In the past Nyagblodjo always lacked the working capital to build up sufficient stocks of maize and millet for her porridge, but with this loan she will be able to buy these raw materials, increase her sales and her income. Her goal is to expand her business, and she plans to save money and reinvest the rest in her business. The other members of the group plan to use the loan to buy goods and increase their incomes.
