Jo-Ann, is 36 and has three children, all of whom are attending high school and elementary school. Her partner, Avelino, is a tricycle driver. They live in the province of Cebu, where Jo-Ann runs a grocery business from their home to help provide for their needs.
To generate additional income, Jo-Ann has been selling a variety of grocery products from their home since 2023. She offers mostly fast-selling items, such as canned goods, energy drinks, seasonings and spices, laundry products, candies, soft drinks, and more.
She opens her business early in the morning and closes at midnight. Most of her customers are motor shop employees and neighbours, with her daily sales ranging from £13 to £25. She schedules restocking every weekend, purchasing supplies from the mall using their tricycle.
Jo-Ann has applied for a loan from Lendwithcare's local development partner, LAMAC, to use as additional working capital to purchase more grocery stocks, particularly canned goods, frozen products, energy drinks, and more. She will also use part of the loan to repair their tricycle so her husband can continue his daily driving operations and purchase necessary parts. The loan will be repayable in six monthly instalments.
