Macamp 0701 Group

The Macamp 0701 Group is composed of women who rely on practical, everyday businesses to support their households. They meet regularly to share experiences, encourage one another, and overcome challenges together, building a strong sense of community and focus on achieving stable livelihoods.

Concillia is a member of the group who runs two complementary businesses in her community: she sells dried fish and trades in goats. Her dried fish provides an important food source for local families, while her goat trading allows customers to purchase livestock for household use or special occasions. Together, these businesses form the backbone of her household income.

She started them to secure a reliable income and reduce financial pressure at home. Daily earnings from fish sales cover everyday needs, while goat trading generates larger sums when opportunities arise, allowing for both immediate and long-term planning.

With her share of this loan, Concillia will increase her stock of dried fish and invest more confidently in goat trading, while the rest of the group will use their shares to restock and renovate their businesses, strengthening the collective livelihood of the Macamp 0701 Group.

The Microloan Foundation, Lendwithcare's local partner in Zambia employs a unique 'centre' model for lending to female entrepreneurs. A centre comprises several sub-groups which share the same name as the centre. As such, you may have seen similarly named group loans from Zambia all belonging to the same centre. In this system, each woman is individually responsible for repaying her loan, but the group offers mutual support by assuming overall responsibility together.
