Ramona, 69, lives in the mountain area of Cebu province. She is married to Albino, and they have four adult children, all of whom are married. In the past they focused on making nigo—a flat woven basket traditionally used for winnowing rice, where the chaff is separated from the grain. Now, as they are older, they have shifted to farming. The couple plants bananas and coconuts on their land, which now serves as their main source of income.
Ramona learned the skill of making nigo from her parents. As she and her husband grew older and needed to stay at home while keeping active, they shifted their livelihood to farming. They now have 60 coconut trees and over 300 banana plants. They can harvest their bananas twice a month, while the coconuts are harvested once and collected directly from their property. Ramona has decided that next month she will plant corn to generate additional income for the couple and to serve as a form of exercise. She also enjoys tending to her plants, as seeing their growth in the morning brings her joy.
Ramona has decided to apply for a loan from Lendwithcare for the second time; her previous loan, which she fully repaid in December 2024, was settled without any issues. She plans to use this loan to purchase corn seeds for planting, while part of the funds will also be used for maintaining her banana plants.
Loan added: 8 December 2025
