CAF Maklin is an exclusively female group of 11 members with 35 dependent children, 25 of whom attend school. Based near Lomé, the group has an average age of 35. Its members are primarily involved in reselling food and cereal products, as well as plates, socks, yams, plantains, and other everyday necessities.
Kokou Akouvi, the chosen beneficiary, is 40 years old and has been working for seven years as a reseller of food products and cereals such as rice and soybeans. She displays her goods in front of her house, enabling direct access to local customers. Married to a carpenter, she shares household expenses with him and ensures her children attend school.
Before receiving the loan, her business operated with limited stock, restricting sales and making it difficult to meet customer and family needs. With her share of the loan, she will be able to purchase larger quantities of cereals, expand sales, attract more customers, and move towards her long-term goal of establishing a larger, stable cereal business as a recognised wholesaler. She plans to reinvest part of the profits in her business and use the remainder to support her family and improve their daily lives.
The members of CAF Maklin believe that the loan will allow them to increase their stock, strengthen inventories, expand their product range, and ultimately boost turnover.
